4.2Why SiNGRAY G2

Enterprise buyers apply a consistent set of requirements before deploying a device in mission-critical workflows. SiNGRAY G2 was designed around those requirements from the outset, rather than adapted to meet them later.

Enterprise requirementWhy it mattersHow SiNGRAY G2 meets it
Optical see-throughThe worker needs a direct, unmediated view of the equipment and their surroundings. Optical see-through provides a direct view of the equipment rather than a camera-mediated view. Digital overlays are rendered separately.Binocular optical see-through with birdbath optics and electrochromic glass allows the wearer to view the physical asset directly — not through a camera feed.
True spatial capabilityDigital twin overlays, anchored instructions, and spatial collaboration require the device to continuously track its own position in the physical environment.6DoF visual SLAM with quad fisheye cameras, ToF depth sensing and a 1000 Hz IMU.
Continuous operationConventional charging takes the device out of service and interrupts the user's task.A hot-swappable battery with backup power keeps the device running while the battery pack is replaced.
Industrial environmentIndustrial deployments require evaluation of the working environment, device fit and the intended application.IP65 protection, compatibility with prescription glasses and standalone operation. Site suitability and fit with required protective equipment should be checked during evaluation.
On-device performanceCompatible applications need to run on the headset without a tethered workstation; online features require connectivity.Qualcomm QCS8550 and Intel Movidius Myriad X, with 12 GB RAM and on-device application processing.
Software migrationRebuilding applications for new hardware is the largest hidden cost of switching platforms.Android-based OS with OpenXR and Unity support provides a migration path. Each application requires compatibility review, adaptation where needed and testing on G2.
Enterprise IT integrationDevices must be enrolled, secured and updated at fleet scale — like any other managed endpoint.Android platform with MDM support, integration with enterprise device-management platforms, and SiNGRAY G2 Configure for administrators.
Manufacturing continuityProcurement teams need confidence that the device will remain available and supported throughout the deployment lifecycle.Backed by seven years of volume production in Japan, five generations of AR hardware, and more than 32,000 edge AI camera units shipped.

4.3Positioning

SiNGRAY G2 is positioned as a premium enterprise AR device — for enterprise and industrial customers who need professional-grade hardware, long-term support, software integration, and reliable deployment, not general consumers.

4.5Use cases and industry focus

G2 provides the hardware platform; the application selected by the customer defines the workflow and the available functionality. This section covers both the operational workflows supported by the device and the industries in which those workflows are deployed.

4.5.1 Use cases

SiNGRAY G2 deployments fall into four core workflow categories.

Remote Assistance

Field service · Maintenance · Energy and utilities · Defense sustainment

When an on-site technician encounters a problem beyond the documented procedure, they can open a live session with a remote expert who sees the equipment from the technician's own point of view and places visual annotations directly within their field of view. This enables teams to diagnose and resolve issues during the same visit, without waiting for a specialist to travel to the site.

What G2 contributes. The 8 MP autofocus camera provides the technician's point of view, and the microphone carries their voice to the remote expert. Compatible applications use spatial tracking for anchored annotations and support hands-free interaction.

Guided Work and Inspection

Assembly · MRO · Quality assurance · Process plant · Warehouse and logistics

A procedure previously held in paper manuals, PDFs or documented expert knowledge can be delivered step by step within the worker's field of view. These may include assembly sequences, maintenance routines, inspection checkpoints, parts identification and pick confirmation. Instructions appear in context at the relevant component, while evidence can be recorded against the work order as the operator proceeds.

What G2 contributes. 6DoF spatial tracking anchors instructions and checkpoints to the physical component. Operators can advance the sequence using supported hand tracking or physical buttons. Interaction should be evaluated with the protective equipment used at the site. The RGB camera captures evidence from the operator's own point of view. Compatible applications can run directly on the device. Remote assistance, cloud content and other online features require network access.

Immersive Training and Demonstration

Technical training · Safety procedures · Onboarding · Sales and customer demonstration

New operators, service engineers and customers can become familiar with equipment before, or instead of, working on the live machine. Interactive instructions and 3D content can be overlaid on the physical equipment — or on an empty workspace when the equipment is not available. This allows teams to rehearse procedures, practice safety scenarios, and demonstrate products at customer sites and trade shows.

What G2 contributes. The binocular display renders a spatial 3D model with natural depth and scale. Standalone operation allows sessions to take place beside the machine, in a training room, or at a customer site. The IP65-rated enclosure supports training on the production floor.

Spatial Visualization and Digital Twin

Engineering · Design review · Construction · Factory layout · Data centers

Digital models — including machines, assemblies, buildings, and facility layouts — can be reviewed at full scale and aligned with the physical space they represent. Teams can walk around the content, compare as-designed with as-built conditions, plan installations before work begins, and visualize IoT or digital-twin data at its physical source.

What G2 contributes. The device aligns digital content with the real environment and renders complex 3D models in real time. Compatible visualization applications run on the headset using its on-device computing resources, without a tethered workstation.

4.5.2 Industry focus

The same four workflows apply across industries, although priorities vary by sector. HMS focuses on three core verticals.

Manufacturing and Industrial
  • Core need - Guide frontline workers through complex physical tasks.
  • Typical applications - Guided assembly and inspection; maintenance and remote support; warehouse and logistics guidance.

8Frequently asked questions

Select the questions relevant to the audience. Answers can be shortened but should not be made more definite than they are written here.

8.1Product

What is SiNGRAY G2?

A standalone binocular optical see-through AR platform built for enterprise applications and deployment. It combines Micro-OLED optics, true 6DoF spatial tracking and on-device computing, with IP65 protection and a hot-swappable battery for evaluated industrial workflows.

Is it optical see-through or camera passthrough?

Optical see-through. The wearer views the workplace directly through the optics and sees instructions, 3D models and remote guidance in context. The real-world view is direct rather than camera-mediated; digital overlays are rendered separately. Electrochromic glass adjusts transparency as lighting conditions change.

How is it different from assisted-reality smart glasses?

Assisted-reality smart glasses are typically monocular and show 2D content on a fixed display, which suits structured, video-based workflows. SiNGRAY G2 is binocular and tracks its own position in the environment with 6DoF visual SLAM, so it can anchor instructions to a component, overlay digital twins and support spatial collaboration.

Is SiNGRAY G2 a replacement for HoloLens 2?

SiNGRAY G2 is built for the same class of enterprise work. For teams whose HoloLens 2 fleets are reaching end of life, it is a current hardware option from a different manufacturer. Existing applications are migrated and tested on G2 rather than installed directly.

How long does the battery last, and can it be changed during work?

Runtime depends on the application and display settings. The 2500 mAh / 7.6 V (19 Wh) battery pack is hot-swappable. When the pack is replaced according to the user manual, backup power keeps the device running. With the Dual-Battery Kit, one battery can power the device while the other charges.

Can it be used outdoors or in bright light?

The electrochromic glass adjusts transparency as lighting conditions change. Readability and tracking performance must be evaluated under the lighting conditions at the intended site.

Can it be worn with PPE or prescription glasses?

The device accommodates prescription glasses. Fit and compatibility with the specific protective equipment required at a site must be checked during evaluation.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Compatible applications run directly on the device. Network access is needed only for features that require it, such as remote assistance or cloud content.

8.2Software and compatibility

Which operating system does it run?

An Android-based operating system built on Android 15 AOSP. It provides the foundation for enterprise enrollment, security, application management and software updates through compatible mobile device management (MDM) solutions.

Which software is included?

The device is supplied with its Android-based operating system and the HMS system software, together with access to SiNGRAY G2 Configure for authorized administrators. Applications are not included as standard. They are licensed from HMS software partners or developed by customers using the SiNGRAY Native SDK or the built-in OpenXR runtime. For bundled offerings, the distributor's quotation specifies the software licenses, services and support included.

Can our existing AR application run on G2?

Existing applications are migrated rather than installed directly. Each application is reviewed against the G2 configuration and then tested on the device. The review covers the engine version, required OpenXR extensions, input model and dependent services. Share the application details with your distributor or HMS to start this process.
